I’m annoyed to read this, I was planning on going. The weather was fine again short after lunchtime! Why the cancellation?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this LENS post. Transportation take the health and safety of the whole KAUST community as a major priority and having taken advise from officials in Jeddah it was deemed unsafe for the shopping bus to travel. The impact of the rains on the road to, and in Jeddah itself were severe with widespread flooding and other associated problems. Be assured, the decision to cancel the shopping buses was not, and never will be taken lightly.

we came to know about the cancellation when we arrived at the bus stop. Why couldn’t we send the sms/email regarding the cancellation the same way we did during water crisis?

Thank you for your question – this is a new system to KAUST and in future all such crisis announcements will be processed via the sms system. I do recommend that you check the LENS daily, not just for announcements of this kind but to keep up to date with all KAUST news and activities.
