Second round: Cybersecurity career starter course series

The IT Training Academy and the Office of Information Security are pleased to announce the second round of the Cybersecurity career starter course series. This series starts on February 5, 2024 and ends on February 29, 2024.

The course will cover the topics listed below. You may register to attend one or more of the following topics as part of this series; the ‘Security principles’ topic is a pre-requisite to be eligible to attend other topics.

  • Incident response, business continuity and disaster recovery concepts
  • Access control concepts
  • Network security
  • Security operations

Who is this course series for?

Anyone interested in learning about information security. Prior knowledge or security experience is not required.

This course will help you to

  • Develop new skills that you can apply in your day-to-day work.
  • Build a strong foundation for a career in information security as completion of this course is a prerequisite for some advanced certifications, such as CISSP®.

About the instructor

Ed Sleiman has 37 years of experience in the IT and Cybersecurity fields. He has taught at the George Washington University for 12 years and possesses 3 higher education degrees in Computer Sciences.
