Arabia reveals a unique culture, a history full of adventure, an environment of extreme challenges, a people of strong faith, and is ultimately a film which bridges cultures. Displaying a combination of historical recreations and contemporary scenes of everyday life, Arabia follows the story of Saudi Arabian film-making student Hamzah Jamjoom as he returns home from Chicago’s De Paul University to make a documentary about his native culture.
As Hamzah finds the roots of his people’s ancient traditions, he learns how Saudi Arabian society developed throughout history into what it is today and in turn discovers a visually striking world of fascinating heritage.
This screening is part of Orientation 2015 and is sponsored by Graduate Affairs.
Light refreshments will be provided.
