Science & Society conference – Beyond the DNA

Tuesday, February 14, 2017
5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Auditorium Building 20

In our DNA, in our Genome our destiny appears to be written as rigid codes onto which we can have no influence.

On the contrary, a new and quickly growing discipline, epigenetics, reveals that both the environment and individual lifestyle can directly interact with the genome to influence its functionality and the way the book of life can be read and interpreted.

So: it’s the environmental circumstances and also our responsibility that choose for the good or for the bad about our biological identity and destiny.

Leading scientists in the field participating in the first international KAUST Research Conference on Environmental Epigenetics will discuss these themes and meet our community.

The event will comprise also the projection of a movie about Epigenetics recently awarded at 2017RAW Science Festival at Fox Studios in Los Angeles.
