ARTmosphere, in collaboration with Community Life, invites you to an exclusive artist’s led-tour of “The Simorgh Always Rises” a solo exhibition by Sarah Al Abdali.

A native of Jeddah, Al Abdali’ seminal exhibition invests specific locations and communities as sites for creative action and artistic inspiration—in this instance, a venue in the historical neighborhood of Al Balad.

Al Abdali studied graphic design at Dar Al Hekma College in Jeddah, and went on to pursue further education at the Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in London. The two year Master’s program offered her the opportunity to experiment with various traditional crafts from the Islamic world, including: woodwork, ceramics, miniature painting, mosaics and plaster carving.

Bridging the divide between contemporary art and craft, Al Abdali has since participated in prestigious international exhibitions such as the 55th Venice Biennale (2013) and presented her work in a number of local and international galleries and museums such as the Saatchi Gallery and the British Museum in England.

Sarah Al Abdali has agreed to give us a private tour and will be available for questions.
The bus will leave KAUST at 3:30 p.m. and will return to KAUST at 8:30 p.m.
Spaces are limited and provided on a first come, first serve basis. The deadline for registration is Thursday, February 28 at 3:00 p.m.

To register, please send an email to solkem.ngangbet@kaust.edu.sa (please include KAUST ID # for each participant).
