New version of MATLAB and KAUST HPC add-on

KAUST IT Research Computing is pleased to announce the release of MATLAB R2015b and the KAUST HPC add-on v2. MATLAB 2015b has a range of new capabilities in MATLAB and Simulink. The update of the KAUST HPC add-on concerns the interface to the SMC cluster.

The new capabilities in MATLAB R2015b range from a new execution engine and GPU acceleration to new features in the Statistics, Image Processing, Computer Vision System and Control System Toolboxes.

The KAUST HPC add-on has been updated to support the SMC cluster. Users can now submit jobs to the SMC cluster with the HPC add-on.

The HPC add-on increases the computing power available to MATLAB users by allowing them to use the cluster resources Noor 1, Noor 2 and SMC directly from MATLAB on their local computers. The computer can be running on either Windows, Mac OS X or Linux. This allows MATLAB users to free up their local computer and get a shorter turnaround time for their calculation.

How to install the new software

Information on installation and usage of MATLAB R2015b and the KAUST HPC add-on can be found on the IT Research Computing website.
