NEO, the New Energy Oasis, was started in 2010 as a research and testing facility for renewable energy prototypes that could provide a solution to the world’s ever growing energy demands.
In order to test the capability of a variety of renewable energy technologies under the unique environmental conditions that exist in Saudi Arabia, the NEO demonstration site was established. NEO’s goal is to provide information that can be used to select the most appropriate technologies for the Kingdom and beyond. At present, the NEO site hosts technologies ranging from solar panels to energy efficient solar panel cleaning robots.

Tours start at 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.
All KAUST buses stop in front of the Innovation Cluster (see map) or simply cycle, there are plenty of bicycle stands available. A NEO team member will be there to greet you and show you the way to a whole new energy solution.
