Dear KAUST Community,

A new Chief Information Officer (CIO), Jason Roos, takes over CIO responsibilities from John Larson as of July 1, 2017.

Jason comes to KAUST from California where he was serving as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for City of Hope, a large national hospital chain that is a leading research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes and other life-threatening diseases. Prior to joining City of Hope Jason worked at Stanford Hospital as their CTO, and with the Cleveland Clinic where one of his responsibilities was to set up their technical infrastructure and operations in Abu Dhabi.

Special Assignment for John Larson

John Larson will continue at KAUST to lead the study in developing a strategy for a National High-Performance Computing Center (HPC) at KAUST. This strategy will focus on the next generation of super computer for KAUST, as well as how to bring business and services that will support the Kingdom’s computing needs.

With his deep knowledge and understanding of KAUST, John is ideally suited to lead a diverse team of internal and external experts that will work on developing the strategy. John’s passion and experience in partnering with research, industry and IT will help make this project a success.

Please join me in welcoming Jason and his family to the KAUST Community. And please extend your continued support to John in his new assignment.

Regards,
Nadhmi Al-Nasr
