If you are traveling over the winter break, please remember your obligations as a resident to help keep your home and belongings safe:
1. Assign a caretaker by completing the Caretaker Form and emailing it to housing@kaust.edu.sa.
2. Shut off the domestic water supply main valve to ensure no water leaks from the internal plumbing system:
– In Safaa Harbor apartments, call 959 for assistance to shut off the valve located in the ceiling.
– In Safaa Garden and Safaa Island homes, the valve is located outside.
3. Turn on the exhaust fan in all washrooms/toilets and the laundry room.
4. Leave the A/C on “auto” and set the temperature to 24-25C. Adjust the fan speed to “auto”. This will help avoid condensation and prevent the formation of any mold.
5. Floor drains should be left uncovered in all wet areas: toilets, kitchen, wash room, laundry room, and water heater room (if applicable) – this will prevent flooding if there is an occurrence of a water leak inside the unit.
6. Keep all bedroom doors open to allow for air circulation, but keep closed all doors in the bathroom/toilet, laundry room, water-heater room, and ladder-access room.
7. All windows should be kept closed to avoid the build-up of any condensation within your unit. If you have a roof access door, ensure that it is locked and secure.
8. Please make necessary arrangements for the upkeep and maintenance of your backyard during your absence (as per the Housing Agreement). Call 959 for Maintenance, 808 5480 for Gardening, or send an email to gardening@kaust.edu.sa.
For inquiries, please contact 959 or call Housing at 808 6555 or email housing@kaust.edu.sa.
