KAUST University Library Outreach Lecture 2018

Sunday, March 4
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
University Library, Level 3, Seaview room

Join us for a lecture by professor Julia M. Gelfand. Professor Gelfand will discuss how the current trends in science, academic and research libraries have responded to today’s challenges!

Academic libraries are becoming less focused on collection holdings and more oriented on services that provide access to resources, ability to search data and author engagement. Universities are increasingly motivated to demonstrate innovation in multiple ways. This can be through publishing, performance, assessment metrics, patent production as well as the commercial viability of new technologies stimulating an entrepreneurship mentality on campus. These demands are increasingly global and pose opportunities and challenges for academic research libraries as they reimagine their futures in this evolving space.
