KAUST Special Lecture – Dr. Sulaiman Al Reyaee

The Saudi Librarianship Lecture Series invites you to attend a KAUST special lecture:

Dr. Sulaiman Al-Reyaee presents on copyright and libraries.

Limitations on copyright protection are an essential part of copyright law for a multitude of institutions–universities, archives, and libraries–both public and private. Librarians have successfully argued for the public’s right to use materials beyond the boundaries of protection.

As the internet becomes the main repository of information, contemporary libraries are increasingly concerned with the reproduction and distribution of protected materials in print, audio-visual, and digital format. This presentation identifies the similarities and differences in the US and Saudi approaches to copyright.

Dr. Sulaiman Al-Reyaee is the Dean of Libraries at Al-Jouf University. He received his Ph.D. at McGill University in Montréal, Canada, in 2007 for his research on copyright and libraries.
