KAUST Honored For Outstanding Design And Innovation

The Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association (SEFA) has honored KAUST for the outstanding design and innovation of its laboratories. Mohamed Dagher, Acting Director of Engineering & Project Management at KAUST, collected the award on behalf of the University at a SEFA reception during the recent ARABLab 2012 Expo in Dubai. This acknowledgment follows last year’s announcement that leading science and technology publication R&D Magazine had named KAUST their 2011 ‘Lab of the Year’ in the new construction category. SEFA is a co-sponsor of the R&D ‘Lab of the Year’ competition.

The reception was attended by top representatives in the laboratory design and manufacturing field, including a delegation from HOK – the architectural firm that designed KAUST. Before the award was conferred, Joseph Ostafi, Vice President and North Central Regional Leader at HOK, gave a presentation on the unique challenges and considerations in designing our University.
