A small number of children have been diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth disease in the community.
Hand, foot and mouth disease is a common viral illness that affects infants, children and sometimes adults. Symptoms include fever, blister-like sores in the mouth, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. If your child shows any of these symptoms, PLEASE keep them at home until the symptoms subside.
This condition will usually resolve itself after a few days and does not require specific medical treatment. Over-the-counter medications can be taken to relieve some of the symptoms. If symptoms persist please seek medical advice.
Good hygiene practices such as washing your hands frequently and properly after all activities will help prevent the spread of viruses.
An information session will be held about common viral illnesses in children on:
August 1, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at KAUST Health, Conference Room 2. Please contact wlau@fakeeh.care to reserve your spot.
