KAUST Email Services Cloud Migration

KAUST IT is pleased to announce the upcoming enhancements and changes to KAUST email services.

As a continuation of our cloud strategic direction to deliver essential IT services, KAUST email services for faculty, staff and contractors will be migrating to a cloud-based service during the next three months.

What is “cloud” and why the migration to the “cloud” right now?

Cloud computing allows organizations to run their applications by specialized companies from global locations while continuing to offer secure and cost-effective services.

KAUST has selected IBM as our email cloud managed service provider.

What does this mean to you?

IT’s objective is to make this migration as easy as possible  our faculty, staff, and contractors that currently use our KAUST email solution.

Benefits of the new hosted KAUST email solution:

  • Mailbox storage capacity will increase by 66% (from 15GB to 25GB)
  • A more user friendly webmail client will be available
  • Enhanced email SPAM/Virus detection and control is included
  • Works with all the official IT supported email clients used at KAUST

What happens next?

The email migration process will be phased starting from January 2017.  You will receive specific instructions from IT on your migration date and the steps required by you before and after the migration is completed.

You will continue to have full access to all your emails during and after the migration. Some activities will require brief periods of interruption which will be announced accordingly.
