The Security Department is pleased to introduce two new services that simplify traffic accident reporting and vehicle damage assessment for the KAUST community.
1. Traffic Accident Reporting through Absher
If you are involved in a traffic accident on campus, contact KAUST Emergency Services first:
- From a KAUST landline: 911
- From a mobile phone: 012 808 0911
Please note: Dialing 911 from a mobile phone connects you to the national emergency services, not KAUST Emergency Services.
Remain at the scene until the KAUST Traffic Officer arrives and follow the officer’s instructions. If anyone is injured, inform the dispatcher immediately so medical assistance can be sent. If it is safe to do so and no one is injured, move your vehicle to the side of the road; otherwise, switch on your hazard lights and stay clear of traffic. Keep your driver’s license, vehicle registration (Istimara), and insurance details ready. The officer will record the accident details in the Visitor Management System (VMS).
For eligible minor accidents involving two parties, the officer will guide both drivers through registering the accident on their respective Absher accounts and record the report number in VMS. These cases do not require a visit to the Rabigh Traffic Department.
For single-party accidents, the officer will explain the next steps, and the Traffic Management Office will coordinate with Thuwal Police as required.
2. Vehicle Damage Assessment through Taqdeer
Vehicle owners can now book a Taqdeer damage assessment in Thuwal, close to campus, instead of traveling to Asfan.
- Availability: Mondays and Thursdays, by appointment.
- Location: Visitor Center parking area, Main Gate 1.
- Booking: Contact the Traffic Management Office and provide your official accident report issued by the Saudi Traffic Department (Moroor). Once your appointment is confirmed, bring your vehicle and a copy of the report to the assessment.
- Fee: SAR 322.50 per vehicle (comprising SAR 172.50 for the assessment report and SAR 150 for the on-site service in Thuwal).
- Insurance reimbursement: Submit the Taqdeer report and the tax invoice to your insurer to request reimbursement, subject to the terms of your insurance policy.
