Having a valid driving license confirms that a driver has met the required qualifications and is both aware of traffic regulations and committed to following them. At KAUST, the licensing requirements for operating vehicles are outlined in the KAUST Road Safety Code.
Vehicles (Cars/Trucks/Gas Scooters)
All drivers operating vehicles on KAUST roads must hold a valid driving license recognized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
Golf Carts
- Option 1: Individuals with a valid driving license recognized by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) can drive a golf cart in KAUST.
- Option 2: KAUST residents without a driving license recognized by the KSA may apply for a KAUST Driving Permit starting at age 17 (Hijri). For guidance on how to apply for a KAUST Driving Permit using the KAUST Central App, please click here.
License Presentation Requirements
Operators of all vehicle types must present a valid KSA-recognized driving license or a KAUST Driving Permit upon request by Security. Drivers are responsible for carrying their license electronically via government-approved apps such as Tawakkalna or Absher.

Dear HSE Team,
It will be a great help if you could arrange temporary office for driving license permit team in KAUST. That will save a lot of time and effort.
Thanking you!
