Last week, on Thursday, March 9, 2023, the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team, in collaboration with The KAUST School, hosted a successful Bike Safety Event at the SAFAA Stadium to promote the safe use of bicycles on KAUST roads through various road safety activities.
As part of this year’s Bike Safety Event, we introduced a road safety poster competition for participating TKS Grade levels. We asked participants to design a poster with a road safety theme of either crossing roads safely, being visible at night, or wearing a helmet correctly. The two winning artworks were chosen for their unique presentation of the road safety topic of their choice.
The two overall winners were announced at the event. We were delighted that President Tony Chan and HSE Director Erik Talley were at the event to congratulate the winners and hand over their prizes.
Overall winners
Both overall winners received a Wheels bike voucher, bike pump, bicycle helmet, and a T-Shirt with a print of their artwork, which will be available soon for sale at the Matjar shop.
- Samahane Laref, K3, for her poster on wearing a helmet when bicycling.
- Anouk Fevrier, Grade 5, for her poster on taking individual responsibility for road safety.
Individual Grade Winners
We also want to thank and acknowledge the three individual winners for their participation. They each received a high quality bike helmet, bike pump and bike light.
- Elisa Ruiz Figueredo, Grade 1
- Ewan Kennedy, Grade 2
- Dhruvin Jagad, Grade 3
We thank our event volunteers and service providers who made this event a success. Event photos will soon be available on the HSE Website, https://hse.kaust.edu.sa/home.
