The first adult walk is around the mangroves on the Island on Saturday, November 18. We will meet at the Island Mosque at 4:00 p.m. The walk will last about 2 hours. This walk should be good for observing birds that gather in the mangroves and surrounding mudflats. We will hopefully see a variety of waders, gulls and herons. If we are lucky we may also spot one of the shyer mangrove specialist, possibly a Mangrove or Clamorous Reed Warbler.
The second adult walk will be around the SAFAA golf course on Friday, November 24 meeting in the reception area at 7:00 a.m. We will walk amongst the woodlands and fairways, which always have birds of interest, before spending a lengthier period looking at the lakes near the the 1st Fairway. We should see a good variety of birds and hopefully encounter around 40 different species.
To register please go to the HSE website. We do have a number of pairs of binoculars which community members may use on the walks but if you have a pair of your own, please bring them along. We hope to see you there.
