Guided Bird Walks in May

HSE is offering three guided bird walks during May 2018. Join other community members on a Guided Bird Walk to some quiet areas of KAUST and find out more about some of the bird life here. This month there are two walks open to all community members and one aimed more at the younger age group. We usually see between 30 and 40 different species on a walk.

This month the two adult walks start a little earlier, at 6:30 a.m.  Most of the birds are more active in the early mornings and it is also the most comfortable time of the day to walk around. Our first walk is around the Nature Conservation Area, near the King Abdullah Monument on May 4. We meet in the car park. The second will be at the Safaa Golf Club on May 11 meeting in the reception area. Binoculars are provided, but if you have a pair please bring them as sometimes we do not have enough for everybody. The walks last around two hours.

Our “Junior walk” is at the Safaa Golf Club on May 6 starting at 5:00 p.m. It is limited to 12 participants as we use the buggies to move around the different areas. If children are under 8 years of age parents are asked to accompany them. The walk usually takes about 1 hour. When registering for the “Junior Walks” parents should sign-up for their children.

Schedule:

Adults Guided Bird Walk: King Abdullah Monument. May 4, at 6:30 a.m.
Junior Bird Walk. Safaa Golf Club. May 6, at 5:00 p.m. (Parents welcome)
Adults Guided Bird Walk. Safaa Golf Club. May 11, at 6:30 a.m.

Register here.

I hope to see you many of you there.

Sincerely Brian James
Biodiversity Conservation Coordinator, HSE.
