Health Safety and Environment (HSE) is pleased to announce their upcoming bird walks for December and January. Although the migratory birds have passed through by now there are still a good range of resident and wintering birds to discover. Come along and enjoy exploring some of the wilder areas at KAUST and get to know a few of the avian superstars found here. There are three types of walk on offer.
South Beach Waders. This walk is offered on Friday, December 7 and again on Friday, January 11. The walk will centre on the bird hide at South Beach and concentrate on identifying some of the 20 plus different waders regularly found there.The walk will be limited to 10 participants to ensure adequate time can be given to each person. We will meet at the ‘tent’ car park near the entrance to South Beach at 6:30 a.m. and the ‘walk’ will take about two hours.
On some recent walks there have been a mixture of adults and families with young children. Sometimes the interests of the two groups are not the same! For this reason HSE is offering adult bird walks at the golf club and on different days walks where families with young children are welcome. Please do not sign up for the adult walk if you have young children below 10 years of age. We thank you for your understanding.
Children and Family walks at the SAFAA golf club are offered on Sunday, December 16 and Sunday, January 13. We will meet in the golf club reception at 5:00 p.m. We will use the buggies to move around and concentrate on looking at some of the larger birds visiting the lakes. The walk will last 1 hour.
Also at SAFAA Golf Club will be the 2 walks aimed at adults. These will be on Friday, December 14 and Friday, January 18 starting at 4:30 p.m. We will meet in the reception area and then walk around the course concentrating on finding some of the shyer species. This walk will not be suitable for younger children.

Thank you for offering a very interesting activity as a Bird Walk. But the evening of the December 14th for the Adult Bird Walk at the Safaa Golf Club is conflicting with the Commencement Event. Wouldn’t it be more convenient to make it the day after?
Will there be more guided birds walk this January 2019 for families? I missed both of them. sorry.
