Enthusiastic Response to ACL Training Courses

Nabil Fayad, Manager of the Analytical Core Laboratory, has been delighted with the response to the training courses offered by his team for the first time this year. Over 120 of the 180 students and researchers who applied for places received the training they requested and the remaining applicants have been placed on a waiting list for the next round of course that will take place in the fall semester.

Each course involved four hours of theory in the particular skill followed by four hours of hands-on practice all taught and overseen by the seven scientists offering the training. At the end of the course, particpants were presented with certificates of attendance. Researchers, scientists, and students at KAUST have unprecedented access to state-of-the-art equipment and these courses will further serve to provide them with valuable skills.

Courses included:

  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy, led by Tahir Yapici
  • X-ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy, led by Bashir Warsama
  • Thermogravimetric Analysis & Elemental Analysis, led by Moawya Masry
  • High Performance Liquid Chromatography, led by Misjudeen Raji
