Retreat to an era before digital media, to a program of German art songs and Italian opera. Beethoven, Schumann, and others set the poetry of their day to music in “art songs.” During the year Robert Schumann married his beloved Clara (1840), he wrote 138 of them. Meanwhile, in 19th century Italy, Rossini, Donizetti, Verdi, Puccini and others elevated the baroque and classical musical story-telling of opera to its grand bel canto style, creating stage roles of heroes and villains for the ages, while becoming the unsurpassed heroes of popular culture themselves.

Light food and refreshments provided

Enrichment in the Spring will run from Friday, March 20 to Saturday, March 28 and will feature three days of core events and one week of community events, with the main theme being the human brain and mind.
