Biography

Eric Oelkers is an international leader in carbon capture and storage technology.  Eric was a co-founder and co-director of CarbFix from 2006 to 2020.  Eric received his undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and his doctorate from the University of California. He has been employed as Professor at the University College London, UK, a Research Director at the CNRS GET Laboratory in Toulouse, France, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Iceland. He has previously served as President of the European Association for Geochemistry, director of the Geochemical Society, founding co-editor of Geochemical Perspectives and Geochemical Perspective Letters, co-editor of Chemical Geology, associate editor of Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta, and guest editor of 6 thematic journal issues. He is currently spending the first part of this year as a guest professor at KAUST.
