Matjar, the University gift shop, has added a limited number of traditional, handcrafted college chairs to its selection. This timeless maple piece is engraved with a KAUST seal and has a family tree attached to the underside of the seat, ensuring that the chair can be passed on to future generations in recognition of the graduate’s achievement at KAUST. These traditional chairs are made by Standard Chair of Gardner (MA, US), manufacturers for many colleges and universities in the US. The chairs feature a beautiful lacquer finish with hand painted gold beading.
Matjar is located on the north end of Discovery Walk spine, outside of Al Kindi (building 5). Store hours are Sundays through Wednesdays, from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

I wonder if Matjar would consider extending their opening hours every so often to accommodate those of us who are not free to leave our work places during the day? Thanks!
