Chair of WEP 2017 Announced

To the KAUST community,

I am very pleased to announce that Gilles Lubineau, professor of mechanical engineering, has agreed to serve as the WEP 2017 Chair. As Chair, Gilles will lead the efforts to design the Winter, Spring and Fall Enrichment Programs for 2017. With his creativity and commitment to previous enrichment programs, I am confident that he will lead the development of a remarkable set of programs.

It is also appropriate at this time to recognize Mark Tester for his leadership of the 2016 program. While he is still working to complete the 2016 Spring
and Fall Enrichment Programs, he has done an excellent job in creating memorable programs this year.

The Enrichment programs create lively and engaging events, taking us away from our regular activities and bringing together KAUST speakers and eminent
guests from around the world. The success of the Enrichment programs depends upon the enthusiasm and creativity of the entire KAUST community. I thank you
for your past efforts and look forward to the 2017 program, which will be built on your ideas as selected by the WEP Committee. The 2017 call for proposals
will be sent out very soon.

Thank you again to Gilles.

Best regards,

Jim Calvin
