Automated External Defibrillators

Campus Support, in collaboration with HSE, has installed five Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) at key points around the academic campus:

  • Campus Diner (building 13) in the main lobby area near to the ATM machine
  • Al-Jazri (building 4) Level 0 outside of the entrance to the Engineering Workshop
  • Administration Building (building 16) Level 2 sea side corridor near restrooms
  • IT Building (building 14) Level 2 main lobby area
  • Innovation Cluster (building 24) main lobby area

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that automatically sends an electric shock to the heart, if required, to restore a normal rhythm.  Although the AED is simple to use and requires minimal patient contact, KAUST recommends that only personnel trained in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) operate it; any use must be accompanied with a telephone call to the KAUST Emergency Services (012) 808 0911.

CPR training will be made available during the remainder of 2013; please look out for announcements and updates regarding schedules and registration.

In case of an Emergency call 911 from a KAUST landline, or 012 808 0911 from a mobile.
