ARTmosphere presents 'The King’s Dream'

ARTmosphere presents ‘The King’s Dream,’ a ballpoint pen drawing by Saudi artist Adel Alrefaie

This seminal drawing by full-time Marcom translator, Adel Alrefaie, is the first artwork by a community artist to be displayed on the fence, and a dazzling and affectionate homage to our beloved King Abdullah.

Using a simple ballpoint pen, Alrefaie began the detailed illustration in the top-right corner, allowing organic shapes to flow around until covering the 2m page. A time consuming labour, which leaves no room for error.

The result is a fluid and intuitively composed drawing which captures the beauty of both our university and of the King’s dream in stunning accuracy and details.

If you are in the Harbor area, walk over and see for yourself!

Thanks for the very useful map of the harbor area.
Would it be possible to add all (more or less permanent ARTmosphere installations on the map?

Hello Floris,

Thank you for your message.
A generic map of all ARTmosphere’ showcases exists which I shall email to you (assuming you are the senior systems analyst appearing on Outlook!).

We are planning to list such map under the “Useful Links” menu of the Lens soon and some other places too – including our upcoming Instagram (@kaust.artmosphere). However, this is currently on hold because the configuration of the fence is going to be slightly modified in the next few days (some of the ARTmosphere displays will consequently relocate and will “activate” new areas).
Look out for our announcements!
