Are we turning into plastic?

April 4-10, 2020

The Week of Awareness is a concept brought to you by Students for Sustainability Square, we hope that this will be the first of many awareness week events where we aim to provide, lectures, exhibits, movie screenings and fun workshops focusing on an important environmental problem. For the first awareness week, microplastics will be our theme.

Awareness week aims to provide a friendly and open platform for the entire KAUST community to be introduced to the issues linked to microplastics formation and the current research happening at KAUST and worldwide to understand and tackle the problem. We also hope this week will prompt action from the KAUST Community when it comes to single plastic use. To make this event a success we need you!

– Are you studying or researching plastic pollution?
– Are you working towards finding more sustainable solutions for campus?
– In your personal life, are you coming across hacks and tips in reducing waste?
– Are you an artist or photographer that can offer your skills for a workshop or activity?

If you replied yes to at least one of the questions above and would like to host a workshop or activity please click here, if you would like to host a talk on your research, or a topic related to sustainability click here

Registration for speakers, workshop hosts, and general volunteering will be open from now until midnight on March 12.
