2018 KAUST Distinguished Teaching Award

KAUST is pleased to announce the 2018 Distinguished Teaching Award. This award was implemented for the first time in 2017 based on a recommendation from the Graduate Council along with the advice of the Teaching and Learning Committee and the Academic Council.

The Distinguished Teaching Award is designed to recognize one individual instructor every year for exceptional contribution to the mission of providing world-class instruction at KAUST.

The award process will be initiated later this Fall and presented in Spring 2018.

To be eligible for consideration for the Distinguished Teaching Award, an individual must:

  • Be a full-time, currently-employed KAUST instructor who was actively involved in teaching during the period of the award, and
  • Have had a minimum of two years of residence at KAUST.

The Award cycle will cover two full calendar years. The award cycle will be for the period of January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017.

The deadline for nominations is December 31, 2017.

Nominees will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Effective design or redesign of courses
  • Ability to engage and inspire students’ independent and original thinking
  • Effective communication of course content
  • Willingness to meet and help students outside of class
