This year, the month of Ramadan is expected to take place from May 27 through June 24, 2017.
During the month of Ramadan, the work hours for personnel will be as follows:
- Working hours for Muslim employees will be reduced from eight to six hours per day, starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m.
- Working hours for non-Muslim employees will remain the same, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
A separate announcement will be sent with regard to working hours at The KAUST School.
Non-Muslims are requested to respect the practices of their Muslim colleagues during the Holy Month of Ramadan and refrain from eating, drinking, and smoking in public areas during the day time. Designated facilities for those who are not fasting will be available on campus.
We would like to take this opportunity and remind everyone of the University’s Code of Conduct – particularly the dress code. If you require further advice or clarification, do not hesitate to contact the HR Helpdesk.
To learn more about Ramadan, Human Resources and Community Life will conduct a number of awareness sessions. Further details will be available shortly.
