Welcome to Day 4. We’ve got two keynotes, numerous workshops, the Poster Competition entries displayed in the Library and, tonight, a performance by the talented BATS Improv from San Francisco in the Auditorium Building 20.

  • PANEL DISCUSSION | The Edge of 4Es: Entrepreneurship, Environment, Equity and Economy

    Moderated by Dr Eman Alhajji, the panel welcomes Erin Smith, co-founder of Ocean Sole, and Sam Marshall, co-founder of Partanna, two businesses on opposite sides of the world but both with environmental sustainability at the heart of their mission
  • WORKSHOP | Sparking Social Impact by Using Math to Align Incentives  
    Building 19, Level 3, Halls 1 and 2. 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. 
    Prof. Po-Shen Loh, Professor Mathematics at Carnegie Mellon University, will talk about his experience going from the ivory tower of academia into the practical mess of the real world, where he ultimately innovated fundamentally new approaches to pandemic control and advanced math education! – open to all the community

  • KAUST Annual Poster Competition Award Ceremony  
    Auditorium Building 20, 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
    Who are the winners of the KAUST Annual poster Competition? Join us to find out at the exciting winners’ award ceremony.  
  • SCI-CAFÉ with Pierre Magistretti, Martin Mai and Raha Moharrak
    Campus Library, 4.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
    In partnership with KAUST Research, Raha will join panelists Pierre Magistretti and Martin Mai, who will share their experience on “Bringing sports to the edge.” 

    Hosted by KAUST Research in the University Library with treats and coffee at 4 p.m. Help us keep the event sustainable by bringing your own coffee cup.   • KEYNOTE | Leadership at the Edge: Scoring Successes in Sports, Peace and the Environment by Didier Drogba

    Didier will talk you through his inspiring personal experience in operating for nearly 40 years at the edge. 
  • An Evening of Jazz with the Mavis Pan Quintet  
    Auditorium Building 20, 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. 
    An Evening of Jazz with the Mavis Pan Quintet features a mix of songs from the albums “Set for Love” (2018) and “Inside” (2022). It’s a tour of jazz spanning many styles – ballad, blues, bolero, bossa, rumba, samba, swing, tango, waltz, with a Middle Eastern muwashah in the mix – all interpreted through the beguiling voice of Mavis Pan.
