How can we be sure about who’s calling from an unknown number?Aren’t you tired of fraudsters trying to trick you into giving out your personal details?Over the past few months many scam call incidents, also known as ‘vishing’ – a combination of ‘voice’ and ‘phishing’ – have been reported. These unknown calls claim to be calling from an authorized source – bank or ministry – seeking personal information that will lead to financial losses.
The reported financial losses incurred by the KAUST community last year was approx. SAR 300k. Out of 70 reported scam calls, 11 victims have unfortunately reported financial impact.
No one is 100% safe from these cyber threats and we would like to prevent such scenarios.
The outcome of this survey will be used to carry out discussions with community members, with the ultimate aim of designing a way to protect KAUST community members from threats arising from scam calls.
