2021 was a new beginning for the KAUST Research and Technology Park (KRTP) community. Over the past few months, the community has been coming together, connecting and sharing experiences through various events. KRTP team has put a lot of emphasis on activating the community, bringing life back into the park, especially after in-person gathering were halted due to the pandemic.

Different types of events were conducted with one goal: to bring the community together and create opportunities of networking and knowledge exchange for park tenants.

The latest event in November brought the community together to enjoying great music and food trucks while also hosting two showcases. The first showcase, introduced some of KAUST Community Clubs to tenants, with the objective to connect the KRTP community with the KAUST community at large. The other showcased some startup tenants with booths of their exciting products. The showcase gave them visibility with visitors who got to learn more about KRTP’s vibrant community. Over 240 people attended the lunch from all tenants’ categories (corporates to startups) in addition to some KAUST faculty members and staff. It’s noteworthy that attendees of the park events aren’t limited to tenants only, but often the park welcomes visitors and stakeholders from different departments at KAUST, which was the case for November as well.

KRTP community consist of tenant companies as well as KAUST offices and services that are provided in the Park from Entrepreneurship Center, Technology Transfer Office, Industry Innovation Engagement, and KAUST Innovation Ventures. Tenants companies are of multiple categories ranging from corporates like Aramco, Sabic, Dow, to SME’s and Startups such as Red Sea Farms, UnitX, WayaKit, FirnasAero, Uvera, and new members in the community such as Shamal Technologies, Smart City Company, and New Generation Mission System Arabia. Over the last year, the park community has consistently shown momentum of growth to a total 63 tenant companies and startups with over 350 employees working at the park.

The KRTP team plans to continue its effort in not only bringing the community together, but also experimenting and finding the optimum setting to spark connections of knowledge exchanges and innovations at the Park.
