Science Camps with Richer Education

Update: Due to the new update from Coronavirus Taskforce regarding traveling into KAUST from the UK, The Science Camp with Richer Education will be cancelled.  If you had already booked and paid for a place for your child/children, please contact getengaged@kaust.edu.sa.

Community Life, in conjunction with Richer Education©, are delighted to offer ‘STEAM’ Science Camps – for 4-14 year olds (K2 to Grade 9) –  from Sunday March 22 to Thursday March 26, 2020.

About Richer Education

Richer Education is an education provider that specializes in delivering Science Camps to bring STEAM subjects to life in a fun and engaging way. “We encourage children to explore and discover science by themselves, led by specialists”.  Learn more about the company.

About the workshop

Children will be participating in a variety of demonstrations, group activities and practical experiments and will learn about exciting and enriching topics.

The Camp will cover the following topics:

Sunday, March 22: ROCKET POWER

The  STEAM commences with a look at the design and construction of rockets and the engineering and science principles behind their flight.  The children will build and launch a selection of different rockets individually and as a team.  They will learn about different forces, reaction mass and Newton’s Laws of Motion.

Monday, March 23: ARCHAIC ARCHAEOLOGY

Archaeology is the study of how people and civilisations lived in the past. In Monday’s session the children will recreate fossilised faeces, examine the dietary habits of the past and make their own cave painting… and more. They will travel back in time from the prehistoric to more contemporary times and learn about different scientific, art, engineering and mathematics principles.

Tuesday, March 24: A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

Sustainability and the protection of the environment is an ever-increasing concern for everyone. In Tuesday’s session, the children will innovate and create new solutions to help the environment. The children will build their own eco-friendly home, roof garden, wind turbine, and air filter as they learn about scientific concepts behind climate change.

Wednesday, March 25: NATURAL DISASTERS

Earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides and volcanic eruptions are all examples of natural disasters.  On Wednesday your child will learn about the causes of natural disasters and how STEAM professionals monitor and reduce the amount of damage from natural disasters. They will recreate a landslide and earthquake, construct a flood barrier… and much more.

Thursday, March 26: OCEANOGRAPHY

Oceanography is the study of the ocean, including its ecosystems, waves and tides. In our final session of the week the children will model the different layers of the ocean, investigate the effects of waves on beaches and erosion.  They will also dissect a fish to learn about its anatomy and physiology.

Timings, price and location

The workshop will run from Sunday, March 22 to Thursday, March 26, 2020 – from 8.40 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. daily at The KAUST School (Elementary and Secondary).  The cost of the five-day workshop is 2,670 SAR.

What are the actual dates? There are 2 given: “from Sunday March 15 to Thursday March 19, 2020.” and “The Science Camp will cover the following topics: Sunday, March 22: ROCKET POWER”. Thank you.
