Along with a rich program, five food-related movies and documentary will be shown during the weekends. Each screening will be followed by a discussion with passionate speakers.

Friday, October 14

Just Eat It

4:00-5:45 pm

How could we possibly be throwing nearly 50% of our food in the trash? In a very convincing way, this documentary film raises the issue of food waste and food rescue.

Followed by a discussion with the Student Green Group.

This documentary is suitable for the whole family.

The Trip

8:00-10:00 pm

Be ready for a culinary tour of the northern England kitchens! In this road-food-movie, Steve Coogan tours the country’s finest restaurants, with his best friend and source of eternal aggravation, Rob Brydon.

Followed by a discussion with Mark Tester, Professor of Bioscience, Chair 2016 Enrichment Programs.

This movie is suitable for attendees age 15+.

Saturday, October 15

Chef

6:00-8:00 pm

A chef who loses his restaurant job starts up a food truck in an effort to reclaim his creative promise, while piecing back together his estranged family.

Followed by a discussion with our special guest, German Chef Bernd Arold.

Children under 17 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Friday, October 21

Julie & Julia

8:00-10:00 pm

We go back and forth between the stories of two women learning to cook and finding success. Sympathetic, loving husbands support them both, and friendships too, add zest.

Followed by a discussion with Melanie Balkner-Zielke and Philippa Arkley, leaders of KAUST cookbook project.

This movie is suitable for the whole family (rated PG).

Saturday October 22

Ratatouille

4:00-6:00 pm
It is time to catch up if you have not yet watched the hilariously animated production ‘Ratatouille’, featuring a rat named Remy dreaming to become a great French chef. Its passion for cooking sets into motion a hysterical rat race that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.

Followed by a discussion with Dawood Bin Ayoob Dowlet, Tamimi Diner Executive Chef.

This animated movie is suitable for the whole family (rated PG).
