The KAUST Community is invited to join us tonight for a special lecture and Q&A session with Mr. Gassan Al-Kibsi, senior partner at McKinsey & Company and managing partner of McKinsey Saudi Arabia.
Al-Kibsi’s primary professional and personal focus is to support employment and opportunity creation for the youth in the MENA region. Since 2000, he has been working with policy makers and leading organizations in several countries to accelerate investments, economic growth, entrepreneurship and skill building for the youth.
He also supports the establishment of philanthropic organizations based in the region whose aim is to fight disease and poverty and create a more dignified life for children and youth in over 50 countries. He serves on the board of WorldLinks Arab Region, an NGO that improves education through use of technology. He has written numerous articles, some of which have become teaching material for several Asian universities.
Al-Kibsi received his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (valedictorian), his master’s degree in operations research from MIT, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management (highest honors). He was the recipient of National Distinction Award and was selected to be a Young Arab Leader in 2005. He was also selected as the World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2014.
About the SRSI
The Saudi Research Science Institute (SRSI) is an intensive summer research immersion program designed for high-achieving eleventh graders from throughout the Kingdom. SRSI offers these top students the opportunity to conduct university-level research under world class KAUST faculty mentors. This year’s program is underway with 39 accomplished young participants taking part.
SRSI’s Distinguished Speaker Series brings leading global figures to KAUST to inspire young scholars by exposing them to cutting-edge research in science, technology, business leadership and global issues.
