The first ever Jazz Festival at KAUST is coming during Enrichment in the Spring

The Enrichment in the Spring program is almost here and we’re very excited to kick off our program with our first ever Jazz Festival. To learn more and register, please click here.

Over three days from April 21 to 23, KAUST will host a vibrant series of live jazz performances and jazz-themed movies, from classics to recent Academy Award winners.

We also have a great program of jazz-themed movies. Our movie program starts on Friday, April 22 with the 1980s cult classic “The Blues Brothers.” On Saturday, April 23 we have a family-friendly morning screening of the Disney Animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” followed by afternoon/evening screenings of the critically acclaimed films “Bird” and “Whiplash.” Each movie will be accompanied by a short introduction.

The music begins with a performance by The Jeddah Jazz Quartet and special guests on Thursday, April 21 at the Student Plaza.

On the second day, the KAUST student band the Leftovers will take the Student Plaza stage in the evening, followed by a special jazz jam session featuring members of all the bands at our festival. For the third day of our festival, we welcome the 23-piece Dhahran Big band to the Auditorium (bldg. 20) for an afternoon performance full of swing-era classics. Be sure to attend the Dhahran Big band performances to receive a special festival gift pack. We’re even bringing the flavors of jazz to KAUST, with a special jazz kitchen at our student center concerts.
