The KAUST Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) is one of the signature events of the University’s academic year. WEP 2017 is slated to take place over two weeks in January 2017 from Sunday, January 8 to Thursday, January 19 and allows our students to think beyond the borders of their traditional disciplines.
We are pleased to announce that WEP 2017, chaired by Gilles Lubineau, professor of Mechanical Engineering, will have the theme of “Pushing the Limits: Challenging Engineering and Science.” We will explore state-of-the-art engineering achievements in all fields and focus on the innovative, 21st century solutions that will help humanity forge a new future.
Everyone from the KAUST community is invited to submit proposals for the 2017 program and can include formats such as workshops, lectures, keynotes, courses, field experiences and exhibits. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, April 27. To submit a proposal visit our site here which is accessible both on and off the campus. The first 50 people to submit a proposal will receive some sustainable WEP swag.
The speaker selection committee will review all proposals during the month of May. Proposals that fall under a different topic will be considered for future programs. Everyone who submits a proposal will be informed about the committee’s decision during the summer. Invitations to selected speakers will be handled by the Enrichment Office and will also be sent during the summer.
Our team will provide submission support every Wednesday during April:
- Wednesday, April 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the University Diner
- Wednesday, April 20 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. by the Coffee Republic, University Library
- Wednesday, April 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Building 20 Lobby
Email us to schedule a proposal appointment if you have any questions about your submission.
