The event, organized by Health, Safety and Environment, brought together KAUST researchers, educators and biodiversity specialists for a morning of hands-on learning and discovery.
This year, BioBooths welcomed more than 500 students from The KAUST School (TKS) and five local schools in Thuwal, in addition to other members of the KAUST community.
Throughout the morning, students moved between interactive booths exploring the diversity of life found across KAUST and the Red Sea region. Through specimens, displays, games, demonstrations and conversations with researchers, they learned about marine and terrestrial ecosystems, wildlife, plants and the importance of protecting biodiversity.
A highlight of this year’s event was the participation of five schools from Thuwal, helping extend biodiversity education and engagement beyond the KAUST community. BioBooths brought the breadth of biodiversity knowledge and research happening across KAUST into one space, supporting KAUST’s commitment to sustaining research and educational excellence while strengthening partnerships that enhance research commercialization and outreach. Most importantly, it created an opportunity for young people to engage directly with the researchers, educators and specialists studying and protecting the natural world around them.

We hope BioBooths 2026 inspired plenty of questions, curiosity and a greater appreciation for the biodiversity surrounding us at KAUST and across the Red Sea region.
Biodiversity is all around us at KAUST, and everyone can play a part in supporting it. Whether by observing and appreciating local wildlife, protecting native plants and habitats, joining biodiversity activities, or simply making space for nature in our everyday surroundings, small actions can help strengthen the connection between our community and the natural environment.
