Abstract

Much has changed in the last decade for universities aiming to implement whole-institution sustainability in teaching, research, and campus operations. New global instruments are guiding this work, helping us to think much more broadly about sustainability than in previous iterations of sustainable development efforts within higher education institutions.

This seminar will focus on the collective knowledge gained by the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) working with institutions around the globe. With over 100 members in 32 countries across six continents, the vision of the ISCN is of members using their shared capacity, passion, and intellectual capital to re-envision the future and take meaningful action to contribute to sustainable development and the climate emergency. The discussion will highlight the vitally important role that higher education can play and the potential to engage students, staff, faculty, and community members in addressing this complex and urgent agenda.
