Eid Al-Adha – Prayers, staycation and travel

The Eid prayer is expected to be performed on Wednesday, June 28, depending on the sighting of the moon. 

The University’s holiday will be from Sunday, June 25 to Thursday, June 29, 2023 (both dates inclusive), with The KAUST School break starting on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

The following information from Government Affairs, Community Life, Finance, IT and HR will be helpful in planning your celebrations or travel during the holiday period.

Prayers at the King Abdullah mosque

The Eid prayer will be performed at the King Abdullah mosque on Wednesday, June 28 at 6:00 a.m. (the date of Eid is subject to change with the moon sighting). To celebrate the joy of the Eid with our community, Government Affairs will be providing Eid sweets and refreshments in the mosque.

The Al-Bir Society representatives will receive the payment of Udhiya (through an ATM portable machine) at the King Abdullah mosque on Friday, June 16, after Jumah Prayer. More information can be found on The LENS.

Eid service adjustments at KAUST

All food and retail outlets along the University Spine will be closed during Eid, except the Campus Diner. The other food and retail outlets may have adjusted operating hours for Eid. 

KAUST Health‘s clinic is closed from Monday, June 26, reopening on Sunday, July 2. 911 emergency response and the Emergency Department operate 24/7 throughout Eid. 

The Eid schedules for off-campus transportation and mail services.

SNB and SABB banks will be closed from Friday, June 23, and will resume regular working hours on Sunday, July 2.

Government request and travel requirement reminders

All government requests must be made before 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2023.
Please note that all Saudi Government agencies will be closed from Sunday, June 25, 2023, reopening on Sunday, July 2.

If you plan to travel, please ensure that exit/re-entry visas, iqama and current passport details are valid and correct. Further reminders can be found on The LENS.
