Winter Enrichment Program (WEP) 2015: Call for Proposals

WEP returns next year from January 11 to 22, 2015 and we need your inspired ideas!

Distinguished experts and leaders from the University, the region, and the world are invited to enlarge our intellectual horizons and stretch our collective imaginations. WEP offerings range from credited courses such as Linux in the Scientific World and a workshop on Autonomous Mobile Robotics; to non-credited activities such as lectures by the President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, Khalid A. Al-Falih and Swiss Explorer, Mike Horn.

If you are a Master’s or PhD Student, Alumnus, Postdoctoral Fellow, Research Scientist, KAUST Faculty, KAUST Staff, Community Member, KAUST Department/Division, KAUST Research Center, Self-Directed Group or a KICP Partner with a great idea for WEP, then we encourage you to submit your proposal.

We seek proposals aimed at developing interdisciplinary activities to create a sense of community at KAUST. Proposals should not be specialized symposia or classes that could be offered during the academic year to specific groups of students. Proposals will be reviewed for their ability to enrich and broaden the knowledge and experience of students and the larger community. Everyone can be WEP instructor. In-Kingdom and international speakers are welcome.

Choose the format of your offering: keynote lecture, lecture, course, seminar, workshop, field trip or event. Then select the appropriate category: academic, skills, entrepreneurial, cultural, and recreational. And finally, submit your proposal by May 4. Click here to submit your proposal.

The WEP Committee encourages applicants to notify speakers/instructors that they have been recommended to be a part of WEP 2015 and to ensure speakers will be available for the invited period of WEP.

Please note: applicants are expected to provide event details and speaker information as part of the submission process. Applicants play an active role in arranging speaker’s itinerary and must plan to be on campus during WEP 2015.

Dates and Deadlines:

  • Deadline for proposal submissions: May 4, 2014.
  • Proposal review: May/June 2014
  • Notifications to applicants/Invitation letters to speakers: July 2014
