What is 911?

911 emergency hotlines are designated for receiving emergency calls, such as:

  • Reporting a security situation in progress.
  • Reporting a fire-related incident.
  • Requesting an ambulance.
  • Using 911 for non-emergency calls may delay help for people caught in real emergencies.

When to call 911

For emergencies requiring ambulance, fire, or security services, dial 911 from a KAUST landline or 0128080911 from a mobile phone.

Who is KAUST 911?

KAUST 911 is staffed by highly trained, APCO-certified operators who deliver rapid and effective service.

What does 911 do?

  • Respond to 911 emergency calls and dispatch appropriate emergency services (security, fire, ambulance).
  • Provide emergency and non-emergency services to the KAUST community.
  • Manage incident reports through the security online reporting portal.
  • Monitor security and safety systems (fire alarm, CCTV, air quality).

What do you need to know before calling 911

For 911 to serve you to the best of its capability, you need to prepare the following before making the call:

  • Know your location: This is vital. 911 needs to know your exact location for the help to come, and you might be asked about your building #, floor, area, apartment number, or any other details that may help identify your location.
  • The type of emergency: Knowing what type of emergency you are facing is crucial for sending the proper help. Is it a medical situation? Is it a fire-related incident? Do you need Security assistance or presence? 911 operator will ask you several related-questions (where/what/when/who) those are important for you to understand and answer properly. Your cooperation matters.
  • Personal information: Your KAUST ID and your callback number for any further inquiries you may need.

Non-emergency/ Not in-progress incidents

  • 911@kaust.edu.sa is an email address for the 911 department. You can send messages to 911 for inquiries any time, 24/7, and you will be replied to shortly. 
  • Security online reporting portal is a feature you can use to report about incidents any time, 24/7, and you will be replied to with the incident number shortly.
  • For non-emergency situations, call 922 from a KAUST landline or 0128080922 from a cell phone.
