Dear KAUST community,
KMC wishes the KAUST Muslim community a blessed month of Ramadan. As the month approaches, we would like to remind you of the following tips for a healthy fast:
- Drink adequate water and fluids during fast break periods
- Break your fast with a balanced diet that has elements from all the food groups
- Avoid deep-fried, high-sugar and high-fat foods
- Adopt healthy cooking methods like grilling, shallow frying or baking
- Speak to your doctor about fasting if you are diabetic, hypertensive or have a chronic illness
- Speak with your obstetrician if you are pregnant or breastfeeding to see if you can fast
- Quit smoking and speak to your family doctor about additional support to help maintain it
- Seek medical advice on whether it is safe to continue fasting if you fall sick during Ramadan
