Through the use of visioning, designing, engineering and mathematics, our young participants will have the opportunity to enhance their problem-solving skills by constructing their own traditional Jizani house.

The workshop comprises an exploration of humanity’s basic need for shelter that aligns with its surroundings. By gaining insight into vernacular concepts and their wise practices, which are sensitive to the environment, participants will learn about centuries-old building techniques that are still being used today. With this knowledge, they will build their own unique interpretation of the traditional Beit Al Jizan and the Jizani village.

Myraida Rivera — an architect and civil engineer — leads this workshop, which explores the Arabian Peninsula’s local and native architecture, emphasising sustainability.

About Myraida Rivera:

Myraida Rivera is an architect, civil engineer, and co-founder of d.heritage 2 tech, a research and pedagogical firm bridging cultural heritage, science and technology through design engineering and mathematical circles.
