The Saudi Government has announced a change to the official weekend in Saudi Arabia to Friday and Saturday to be effective this coming weekend.
KAUST Management has decided to adopt the same change to the University’s normal work schedule to facilitate our ability to efficiently do business with the many Saudi Government agencies with whom we deal on a regular basis.
This change will also bring positive benefits to KAUST, enabling more accessible communications with academic colleagues and businesses around the globe.
KAUST will begin this new schedule starting on Saturday, June 29. As such, this weekend will be a three-day weekend for KAUST, from Thursday, June 27 through Saturday, June 29. The new working week schedule (Sunday through Thursday) will commence on Sunday, June 30.
We recognize that this change will impact the current schedule of summer courses. Any student enrolled in a summer course will receive notification from the Registrar later today regarding any changes.
This new schedule also has other implications within the community (bus schedule, bank hours, recreation classes, etc.). Specific details on this will be forthcoming.

Hi Yasser, we are currently working on the Academic Calendar (Aug 2013-July 2014) which will include the new weekend format as well as any changes to Eid breaks or the academic schedule. Our goal is to have that available before the start of August.
