Register now for a week of Marine biodiversity at KAUST splashed with color, research, and creativity. Make sure to register early, as many events have limited seating. This year’s theme has been inspired by the workshop “The Future of Red Sea Biodiversity” organized by the Red Sea Research Center which will take place at KAUST from October 23-25, 2018.
The Enrichment in the Fall program is as follows:
Saturday, October 20
- Take a guided tour to discover the mangroves and birds at KAUST
- Don’t miss the ‘Champions of the Mangroves’ book reading for kids
- Attend movies and documentary screenings during the Marine Film Festival
October 21-23
Keynote Lecture Series, Auditorium, bldg. 20
- Sunday October 21 at 12:30 p.m.: Into the Twilight Zone, by Luiz Rocha, associate curator at the California Academy of Sciences and deep coral reefs explorer.
- Monday October 22 at 12:30 p.m.: The Secret Life of Jaws by Greg Skomal, leader at the Massachusetts Shark Research Program.
- Tuesday October 23 at 12:30 p.m.: Hidden in Plain Sight? The Cryptic Biodiversity of Coral Reefs, by Catherine McFadden, Vivian and D. Kenneth Baker professor of biology at Harvey Mudd College.
- Tuesday October 23 at 5:30 p.m.: Mare Incognitium: How Little We Know About Coastal Biodiversity and How to Change That? by Gustav Paulay, curator of invertebrates at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
*A light lunch will be served before the keynote lectures.
