Call out to the KAUST community elite open water swimmers. KAUST will be hosting the Saudi Open Water Championships on October 16. This event is sanctioned by the Saudi Sports Ministry.
Are you fit enough and ready to compete in the KAUST Harbor? If you are an elite swimmer and can swim 4,000 meters in open water at a race pace and would like to compete in the event, please contact the marine guest care team to book a trial swim.
Age groups and distance
- 13-14 years old 2000m (2 laps)
- 15-17 years old 3000m (3 laps)
- 18 years old and above 4000m (4laps)

- All swimmers must book with guest care ahead of time
- No walkups accepted
- Limited spaces available for KAUST community to participate
- Saturday is the deadline to enter any contestants for the race
- Not all qualifying swimmers are guaranteed a slot
Trial swim
The trial swim takes place between 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at South Beach on Saturday, October 2.

Race day schedule
- Saturday, October 16, 2021
- Swimmers registration and numbering at 1:45 p.m.
- Followed by the warm-up
- The final meeting with the swimmers and the referees at 2:30 p.m.
- First swim race starts at 3:00 p.m.
