Previously Professor in the Department of Physics at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Dr. Zhang also spent several years in Spain as a Senior Research Scientist at the University of Barcelona, where he received his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics in 1992. He has an impressive co-authorship of over 300 publications as well as 13 patents awarded from China, USA and Spain.
In 2011 Dr. Zhang was awarded the First Prize in Science and Technology by Beijing City for the paper, Discovery and Mechanism of LaFeSi-based Magnetorcaloric Materials. The National Science Foundation of China also awarded him the Distinguished Young Scientist Award in 2007.
