If you are traveling over the summer break, help keep your home and belongings safe by following a few simple steps:
1. Assign a caretaker by completing the Caretaker Form and emailing it to housing@kaust.edu.sa.
2. Shut off the domestic water supply main valve to ensure no water leaks from the internal plumbing system:
– In Harbor apartments, call 959 for assistance to shut off the valve located in the ceiling.
– In Garden and Island homes, the valve is located outside.
3. Switch off of the electrical circuit breaker for the water heater inside the panel board to prevent an excessive temperature and pressure build-up in the water heater tank.
4. Leave the A/C on ‘auto’ and set the minimal temperature at 23 C. This will help avoid condensation and prevent the formation of any mold.
5. Floor drains should be left uncovered in all wet areas: toilets, kitchen, wash room, laundry room, and water heater room (if applicable) – this will prevent flooding if there is an occurrence of a water leak inside the unit.
6. All doors and windows should be kept closed to avoid the build-up of any condensation within your unit. If you have a roof access door, ensure that it is locked and secure.
7. Please make necessary arrangements for the upkeep and maintenance of your backyard during your absence (as per the Housing Agreement). Call 959 for Maintenance, 808 5480 for Gardening, or send an email to gardening@kaust.edu.sa.
For inquiries, please contact 959 or call Housing at 808 6555 or email housing@kaust.edu.sa.
